Delivery Time Optimization (2026) - Freelancing
Working since 2025 also as Freelancer, this is one of the Opportunities that I find worth listing as a project.
I was contracted to solve structural problems in a very early Stage Stealth Startup - a Dating App. It had around 100k Monthly Active Users and had around 4 Tech Employees by the time.
The problem
Because of a codebase derived from FlutterFlow, overnight coding sessions from the Tech Founder, lack of definitions of roles and processes, every new feature required a painful loop of definitions, redefinitions, creating code that was broken and going back fixing the code before releasing it, just to find out more issues. All of that dragged the creation of new feature, when I first contacted the firm, they needed around 3 months to launch a big feature - that sometimes was delayed or postponed due to issues.
The solution
I was responsible for a series of initiatives and ideas that after being applied dropped the release cycle to 3 weeks in practice:
-
Adoption of a structured App Release Process, with an automated Github Actions Workflow, inspired by Github's own Mobile Release workflow. You can see the working example here: https://github.com/pietroid/workflow-lab. This avoided not knowing which version was on the rollout and was critical for hotfixes and cancelling rollouts.
-
Adoption of SCRUM inspired methodology with a so called "Captain" role: Captain being like a SCRUM master but more technical and responsible for QA, Release process and ensuring the App is sane. This way ownership is clear and not diffused and dilluted. Also, the right adoption of SCRUM processes (planning, refinement, review), made sure we were always aligned with the founders vision.
